brew 2022 Individual Project University of Edinburgh Service: Outdoor Appliances | Coffee Brewer Design | Collapsible Products | Metal Work | Welding | CAD | Sketching | 3D Printing brew is a compact and portable coffee maker that combines metal craftsmanship with digital making . Designed for campers and van lifers , brew offers a lightweight coffee brewing solution that is easy to transport and store . The design consists of a stainless steel base and a filter top that securely holds the coffee filter and grounds, collapsing together into a 5 cm tall cylindrical form. The project explores how conventional vessel design can be reimagined through a telescopic folding mechanism that improves portability. Developed as part of the New Making course, brew focuses on combining hands-on metalworking such as cutting and welding, alongside the use of CAD software (Fusion, SolidWorks) to prototype and test 3D-printed components. Across the UK, people consume 98 million cups of coffee every single day. 25% of that volume is fuelled by daily grind in office and university spaces . How can the iconic design language of the Bialetti Moka Express be translated into a modern, portable brewing experience ? To decode the Bialetti’s iconic octagonal geometry , I deconstructed its form into a 2D layout before reconstructing it in copper. The process of spot-welding helped me master metalwork foundations and eventually inspired the telescopic structure of brew's portable design. brew combines a CAD-optimized, custom designed 3D-printed PET-G filter and a stainless steel collector featuring a novel reverse-telescopic construction . Engineering the waterproof joints for this reverse taper was a challenge, but it ultimately allows the base to nest within the collapsed filter. The Brew Guide (50 x 90 mm collapsed) (1) Deploy: Uncollapse the filter and telescopic stainless steel base (2) Assemble: Place the filter unit onto the base (3) Prep: Insert a coffee filter into the top chamber (4) Dose: Add your ground coffee (5) Brew: Pour boiling water over the grounds to saturate (6) Extract: Wait for the coffee to filter into the collector (7) Enjoy: Remove the top and enjoy your brew flux Up touch eduscape

tom project 2019 Team Project 72-hour Makeathon, Tikkun Olam Makers Service: Inclusive Design | Rapid Prototyping | Modular Engineering | HCD | Accessibility Design | Wood & Metal Work In March 2019, I participated in a 72-hour makeathon organized by TOM (Tikkun Olam Makers) at the American College of Sofia. Working in team Phoenix, I co-designed and constructed a portable lift platform for Ivan, a young actor with mobility challenges . The project addressed a specific daily struggle, Ivan’s inability to access theater stages in Bulgaria independently , a barrier that requires support from his colleagues or staff. The resulting solution is a modular, three-part system featuring a wooden platform with integrated safety ramps , a collapsible metal support frame , and a motorised lifting engine . Designed for portability, the entire structure can be flat-packed and stored in a van, providing Ivan with a reliable way to navigate various theatre venues. The lack of standardised wheelchair access to varying stage heights presents a significant functional obstacle in many performance and theatre spaces in Bulgaria . This project proposes a solution for this problem by developing a compact, motorised lift system that operates independently without adding permanent structural modifications to the space. vika 2023 Team Project Lund University Service: Sports Accessories | Wood Work | Textiles & Sewing | Patent Design | Collapsible Products | CAD | Sketching Vika ("fold" in Swedish) is a novel foldable bike basket designed for active commuters who rely on bicycles for work, university, or shopping . It revolutionises the cycling experience by offering a versatile storage solution for bags and groceries that turns into a portable shopping bag with a shoulder strap. When not in use, the basket’s flat-pack design allows space-saving convenience by easily securing to the bike frame. My role in this project was doing user research, product and tend analysis, working on the CAD models from our concept sketches, working on the foldability pattern and the textile design , creating a final prototype with a pine frame and waterproof textile repurposed from a yacht wing sail. In Lund, Sweden, 60% of residents prefer cycling , a tradition shaped by the city's proximity to Copenhagen’s infrastructure and evolution of transport and transit. Tubi Individual Project October - December 2021 The University of Edinburgh Brief: Source an object for an object autopsy, disassembling and analysing its design and semantic qualities. Use these insights to create a redesigned object offering a fresh perspective on the original design. Tubi presents a fresh perspective on the traditional DSLR camera. It takes the form of a cylindrical tube, offering a change from the conventional square-shaped design. With simplified camera settings, a digital screen, and an easily attachable part, Tubi aims to provide a portable and user-friendly photography experience. The intuitively operated interface is designed to accommodate individuals with limited hand strength. Zooming in and out is achieved by twisting the top section of the camera, providing a tactile and effortless control mechanism. The camera's main body is made from biodegradable PLA material, utilizing 3D printing technology. This eco-friendly approach ensures that parts of the camera can be recycled at the end of its lifespan. The first step of the Product Design Object Autopsy was tearing down our chosen object. I selected a Zorki-6 film camera to better understand how it works and because I've always been interested in the intricate controls and design of cameras. Zorki-6 Camera Teardown Video My goal was to make the Zorki Camera more user-friendly, with straightforward controls and a lightweight, ergonomic design. Tubi is intended for beginners, like kids, tourists, and those unfamiliar with camera settings but who can easily navigate the camera's intuitive interface. User testing and research were conducted to investigate the diverse semantic aspects of the controls, their placement on the camera body, as well as the communication of control icons and shapes. The Tubi camera, drawing inspiration from kaleidoscope design, operates as a mirrorless camera, powered by a rechargeable battery. Tubi is mirrorless because it exclusively relies on digital screen exploration and viewing. Tubi Camera Demo Video foldiFi touch eduscape
